Amnesia

Our cat suffers from amnesia. That, at least, is the only possible explanation for her recent behaviour. (Or perhaps she met Herman the Belgian Tortoise: http://www.myboyfriendisatwat.com/2009_07_01_zoe_archive.html#392160441222547289)

She has completely forgotten what a cat litter is for and how to use it. We walk around the place rather gingerly these days, not knowing what we might find in various places. I’ve taken to wearing asbestos socks, figuring that you cannot be too safe.

Last Sunday we arrived back home to find a number of files and books lying on the floor by the book case. We realised that it was probably her doing but didn’t immediately notice that she was nowhere to be seen until much later.  After a lot of convincing, I helped the Soul Soother look for the cat.  She was cowering inside one of our suitcases. (The cat not the Soul Soother).

Where Am I?

Where Am I?

By Monday, she was very carefully investigating the apartment again and we thought that it was a game of hers until we started finding little cat-surprises here and there. We think that after trying to jump up on to a shelf, she must have tried to hang on to a very shiny plastic folder which is rather slippery. She probably pulled the whole lot down in her efforts to gain traction and some items must have fallen on her.

Which is why we think it is amnesia.

I think she needs another whack on the head to be put straight (The cat not the Soul Soother)
