November Update
Writing the blog and making sure that you get a couple of posts ready every week is not a simple task. There is a reward at the end of the tunnel though, mainly from your comments and ratings which show that you appreciate the posts and stories.
I’m happy to announce that October was a bumper month for ratings – 500+ hits in a single week (a new record) and an average of 50 or so hits per day means that more and more people are signing in and reading – welcome folks!
Many blog directories send traffic my way, like Expat-Blog (http://www.expat-blog.com) which flags up a link to this site when I publish something new, BlogFlux (http://www.blogflux.com) which I’ve recently signed up for and Blog Surfer (http://www.blogsurfer.us) which puts me on top of their list when I have a new post. The number of people who arrive here from these sites is steadily increasing – feel free to subscribe using the link on the top-right if you’re one of them.
I also am rather pleased to see that my blog is recommended reading for anyone moving to Brussels! The good people behind http://www.diyexpat.com have a dedicated page for anyone wishing to move to Belgium (http://www.diyexpat.com/immigration/belgium.html) and in their section labelled “Interesting Expat Blogs from Belgium” they list “The Unexpected Traveller” right on top! Thanks folks! For those of you who stumbled across my blog in this way, you can use the section in the side bar (on the right) called “Historical Oddities” to catch up with my stories and antics over the past year.
One last point; as you may have noticed, in recent months, I’ve taken to including a short message at the bottom of every post to encourage you to send a link to friends if you enjoyed reading it. Please do so and tell everyone that, unlike all the other silly mails talking about pointless videos on YouTube or some make-a-wish mail that never comes true, reading the Unexpected Traveller will actually make your day better.
Spread the love.
